wasp nest discoveryWelcome to Naturally Kids, a hands-on nature discovery program for children with disabilities ages 5 to 12. Children with any disability and their families are invited to connect with nature through fun monthly activities at Fort Snelling State Park in St. Paul. Check out the summer events!*

Aug. 8: Wild about Water

Ever wonder what's swimming around you when you're in the lake? Find out! We'll meet at the swimming beach, play pond bingo, collect and examine water samples--and go swimming! (A lifeguard is on duty at the beach. Children may wear personal flotation devices, but the park prohibits inflatables, such as rafts, tubes, and noodles.)

Participants should meet at the swimming beach at Fort Snelling State Park. Bathrooms/changing rooms are available. Please note: If it's raining, the beach will be closed and the event will be cancelled.

A Master Naturalist volunteer will present and lead activities; however, adults must stay to supervise and assist as needed. Participants should dress for the weather; we'll be having fun outside part of the time!
Space is limited.

Registration is required so we can plan appropriately. If a sign language interpreter is needed, please send the request to naturallykids@gmail.com at least two weeks before the event.

Participants should meet at the Fort Snelling State Park visitor center.

The activity is free to attend, but a State Park vehicle permit is required ($5 per day or $25 per year).

For information on accessibility at the park, please visit dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/fort_snelling/program.html.
